Shapes and Symmetries in Nuclei: from Experiment to Theory <br> (SSNET Workshop)
The SSNET'16 Workshop, hosted by the Centre de Sciences Nucléaires et Sciences de la Matière (CSNSM) in Orsay, was held at the I2BC auditorium on the CNRS campus in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, from November 7th to the 11th, 2016.
The workshop aims at strengthening the international collaboration between the nuclear structure physicists from France, Europe and other laboratories all around the world. It has allowed fruitful discussions on recent experimental and theoretical aspects of nuclear structure related to the manifestation and description of the various shapes and geometrical symmetries of the nucleus as well as other symmetries and symmetry breaking.
Recent results obtained from various detection systems like AGATA, JUROGAM, EAGLE, GALILEO, GAMMASPHERE, GRETINA, GRIFFIN, TIGRESS, EURICA, INGA, AFRODITE have been presented, as well as the most recent theoretical advances and their applications. The intention of the workshop is to give an impulse to the studies of exotic modes of excitation in nuclei using new detector setups for gamma-rays and associated ancillaries.
The program consisted of plenary presentations by invited speakers and contributions selected from submitted abstracts, as well as a poster session, on the following topics:
- Experimental studies of spherical and deformed ground and excited states
- New facilities
- Methods and instrumentation
- Theoretical models for exotic collective excitations
- Theoretical models for exotic symmetries and uncertainties of modelling methods
Organizing committee: Alain Astier, Isabelle Deloncle, Karl Hauschild, Amel Korichi, Araceli Lopez-Martens, Costel Petrache (chair), Jerzy Dudek (co-chair)
Conference secretary: Émilie Bonnardel
