Description

The LIO international conference on "Fundamental forces from colliders to gravitational waves" aims at discussing the new recent results in particle physics and cosmology to explore new and emerging models of physics beyond the standard model. The event also hosts a workshop dedicated to the France-Korea STAR collaboration project (PHC) on "Higgs and Dark Matter Connections" .

The conference will be in hybrid format, webcast and in-person event at the IP2I of Lyon, France. It is aimed at discussing and starting new collaborations and projects, so ample time will be left for discussion and collaborative work.
There is no registration fee.

Key speakers include:

The W mass and the top mass web/Amphi Dirac

      web/Amphi Dirac

      IP2I

      4 rue Fermi, 69622 Villeurbanne

The talk will consist of two parts.
In the first I will summarize attempts of interpreting the 7sigma anomaly in the W-boson mass recently claimed by the CDF collaboration.
In the second part I will argue that measuring the top quark mass well enough to establish the possible instability scale of the
SM Higgs potential could be a main target of future colliders, and propose unusual colliders that can achieve this goal.

Atmospheric resonant production for light dark sectors web/Amphi Dirac

      web/Amphi Dirac

      IP2I

      4 rue Fermi, 69622 Villeurbanne

Cosmic ray atmospheric showers provide an effective environment for the production of MeV-scale dark sector particles. From a simple light dark matter example based on a dark photon mediator, we will show that when available, the resonant annihilation of positrons from the shower on atmospheric electrons is the dominant production mechanism by more than an order of magnitude. Updated constraints from kilotons neutrino experiments and xenon-based direct detection experiments will be consequently presented.

Bubble wall dynamics at the electroweak phase transition web/Amphi Dirac

      web/Amphi Dirac

      IP2I

      4 rue Fermi, 69622 Villeurbanne

Bubble nucleation is a key ingredient in a cosmological first order phase transition. The non-equilibrium bubble dynamics and the properties of the transition are controlled by the density perturbations in the hot plasma. We present, for the first time, the full solution of the linearized Boltzmann equation. Our approach, differently from the traditional one based on the fluid approximation, does not rely on any ansatz. We focus on the contributions arising from the top quark species coupled to the Higgs field during a first-order electroweak phase transition. Our results significantly differ from the ones obtained in the fluid approximation with sizeable differences for the friction acting on the bubble wall.
