In light of the worldwide developments due to Covid-19 pandemic, and for the protection, health and safety of our community, the European Summer School scheduled 30 June - 4 July 2020 is postponed to 22 - 26 June 2021
The European Summer School of the University of Strasbourg is a prestigious one-week meeting of Post-doc, PhD students and Master students from all over Europe. They present their research projects and attend lectures on some of the most recent topics in physics presented by internationally known scientists.
The 2021 edition of the school is organized by the Faculty of Physics and Engineering of the University of Strasbourg together with the Institute for Nuclear Waste Disposal (INE) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
The main topics of the Summer School are radio-chemistry, the challenge of measuring low radioactive radiation, new instrumental techniques and measuring procedures for dosimetry and handling of radioactive materials. All these topics have their place in the centre of the research activities of the two participating universities.
Besides the fundamental aspects of these subjects a good part of the program will cover experimental methods and numerical simulation programs. Some practical workshops assuring the active participation of the participants will complement the lectures.
The school is also meant as an introduction for younger scientists to the conference taking place in Strasbourg the following week:
10th International Conference on High Level Environmental Radiation Areas" (IC-HLERA 2021) 28 June -1 July 2021.
The school is open to young Post-docs, PhD students and students at the Master level in physics.
The lectures will start on Wednesday morning, the 22th of June and will end on Saturday afternoon, the 26th of June.
Registration on Tuesday afternoon 21 of June 15-17h.
Welcome reception Tuesday evening.
All lectures will take place at the
1st floor at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering
