Description

Dear colleague,
As you know the construction of DESIR at GANIL has started and we are looking forward to starting the facility in 2026 with stable beams and in 2027 with radioactive beams. Therefore, it is time to restart discussing the physics we want to do at this new facility. There will be possibilities for radioactive decay studies, for experiments with lasers and for trapping with electromagnetic devices.
We propose therefore to organise a first DESIR workshop from Feb. 27, 2pm to March 1 noon at the GANIL Guest house.
For this first workshop, we would like to invite the whole low-energy community interested in DESIR, be it for decay studies, laser excitation or trapping. The idea is to start forming again a DESIR community. The workshop will start with a presentation of the facility, its continuous evolution as foreseen for the first years, the beams available from SPIRAL1 and S3 and the general purpose installations provided by DESIR for the community. This opening part will then be followed by topical sessions on the DESIR physics organised by conveners. A visit of the construction site will also be organised as far as the construction will allow this.
The conveners are as follows:
- DETRAP: Pauline Ascher, Tommi Eronen, Leendert Hayen, Enrique Minaya
- BESTIOL: Alejandro Algora, Jérôme Giovinazzo, Matthieu Lebois, Marine Vandebrouck
- LUMIERE: Paul Campbell, Louis Lalanne, Gerda Neyens, Liss Vazquez Rodriguez
If you want to present a subject at the workshop, you can contact them directly or submit a contribution via this website.
Secondary beam intensities can be found at the GANIL web site: https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/chartbeams/
For questions, please contact Bertram Blank (blank@cenbg.in2p3.fr) or Jean-Charles Thomas (thomasjc@ganil.fr
Best wishes and hoping to welcome you at GANIL in February.
