Dear TTC Collaborators, Dear Colleagues,
CEA-Saclay will be hosting a TTC Topical Workshopon SRF Cryomodule Clean Room Assembly from Wednesday 12 November 2014 to Friday 14 November 2014 in Saclay (France), a few weeks before the TTC Collaboration Meeting at KEK.
The goal of this Topical Workshop is essentially to collect, compare and discuss the best practices on clean room equipment and procedures from various international laboratories on the diversity of low to high beta superconducting RF cryomodules, primarily in order to circumvent the so-called cavity gradient degradation after cryomodule assembly. The experience from industrial microelectronics plants and the optimization of cost and schedule for large series production should also be discussed.
A full program is currently being discussed by the Program Committee. It will cover topics related to:
- Specifications of clean room infrastructure (ISO4-5, utilities), tools and consumables
- QC of cavity, coupler, valve, bellows and general hardware
- Qualification and training of personnel
- Experience from industrial semi-conductor plants (e.g. particle detectors)
- Specification of vacuum infrastructure, vacuum equipment and vacuum procedures
- Dis-assembly/assembly tools and procedures: the mechanical aspects
- Dis-assembly/assembly tools and procedures: the cleanliness aspects
- Experience with cavity gradient degradation in cryomodule tests: possible causes and in-situ diagnostics, in-situ cures.
A summary of the Topical Workshop findings will be presented at the TTC Collaboration Meeting at KEK three weeks later.
The Program Committee includes Catherine Madec (CEA), Stéphane Berry (CEA) and Sébastien Bousson (IPN-Orsay)
Please mark your calendars !
With my best regards,
Olivier Napoly
