Workshop venue
Clermont-Ferrand is located 420 km on the south of Paris and 200 km on the west of Lyon. Accessing Clermont-Ferrand is easy by car, train or plane. The easiest way to reach Clermont-Ferrand is to fly from Paris (about 50 minutes duration). The Clermont-Ferrand airport is located 7 km away from the University. It provides several daily flights from/to Paris Orly and Charles de Gaulle, and daily flights from/to Amsterdam, Lyon and Nice. Several daily trains from Paris and Lyon to Clermont-Ferrand are available. It takes about 3 hours from Paris and about 2 hours from Lyon. Traveling from CERN is easy via Lyon with several daily connecting trains to Clermont-Ferrand. Participants will be picked up at the railway station or at the airport by the Local Organizing Committee (don't forget to specify your arrival date/time and further information in the Registration form).
Local transportation
Most of the participants will be accommodated in hotel "Balladins Centre" which is located at about 1 km from the University. Access to/from the hotel from/to the University and from/to Clermont-Ferrand downtown is easy and quick by tramway (about 5 minutes) or by foot (about 20 minutes, following the tramway line).There is one tramway station in front of the hotel and another one in the campus area, 50 meters away from the meeting room. Other hotels (see the Accommodation menu) are also located on the tramway line. Tramway tickets and maps will be provided to all participants. Bus transportations will be organized for the social events.
