Dark matter is one of the great puzzles of nature: according to current estimates, more than 85% of the matter in the universe is in the form of dark (only gravitating) matter, of which today we know nothing. Any discovery of new physics will be related directly or indirectly to dark matter: by discovering a dark matter particle or by measuring fundamental properties in models providing a dark matter candidate. Dark matter is also likely related to gravitational waves and multi-messenger astroparticle physics.
The International Research Laboratory (IRL) DMLab between the CNRS/IN2P3 and the Helmholtz association represented by its centers DESY, KIT and GSI, focusses on the theme of dark matter.
To address various challenges in dark matter physics the IRL is structured in six topics: direct dark matter searches, multi-messenger particle physics and gravitational waves, novel accelerator concepts, computing and data science, particle detector technologies, and theoretical physics.
During the meeting we aim to discuss the ongoing projects as well as new ideas.
Hotel accommodation: There is a pre-booking of hotel rooms at Hotel Berliner Hof at a rate of €81,- including breakfast which ends October 1. If you book your room there please refer to "DMLab". Otherwise, Karlsruhe provides many hotels at different comfort and price level. It is easiest and cheapest if you book via their webpages or booking sites.
To use the pre-booked rooms: send a mail to : mailto:info@hotel-berliner-hof.de with the following information: Name, address, arrival and departure dates, special code: DMLab.
Special shuttle transportation: There will be a bus shuttle on 16 Nov bringing the participants from Karlsruhe main station (Hbf) to KIT Campus North and back after the sessions, directly near to the hotel Berliner Hof and the dinner location. On Friday morning (17.11.), the bus will pick up the participants at the same location and bring them directly to KIT CN and back at the end of the meeting to the Karlsruhe Hbf. We recommend to book trains leaving Karlsruhe HBF at the earliest at 14:40h on Friday.
Public Transportation in Karlsruhe:
Entering KIT: To enter Campus North, you need an ID/passport. During registration, we will ask for personal data.
AUDITORIUM: grand seminar room (room 410) at Institute for Astroparticle Physics (IAP) (bldg. 401)
CANTINA: situated on Campus, you will get tickets, no cash payment available
Dinner: we made a reservation at Lehner´s Wirtshaus situated at the very center of Karlsruhe, please note that the participants pay their own bill!
Help: if you need any administrative help, please contact Anna Friedrich anna.friedrichREPLACEBYATkit.edu
Participation in the meeting: please register, if you have an indico account, the link will be visible, for the others the zoom link will be sent by mail about an hour before the meeting starts.
