The Chaîne des Puys - Limagne Rift was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status on July 2018. The chain includes over 80 volcanoes, running from north to south. The volcano range is 45 km long, with a width ranging from 3 to 5 km. The volcanoes are relatively young: with the first eruption taking place 95,000 years ago and the most recent one just 8,600 years ago. The highest point is the summit of the Puy de Dôme (1465m). Discover an exceptional geological landscape!
Follow the "effigies" of Pascal, Vercingetorix, and others, while winding along the old town streets, visiting the iconic basilica of the "Notre Dame du Port" and the cathedral of "Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption"...
You can also relax and soak in the local hot springs, naturally rich in gas and minerals; and what better way to end a full day than to discover the local Auvergne "flavoured" specialties?
The "Michelin Adventure", the "Vulcania" park, or the visit of an open-air volcano at Lemptegy are also popular and unique local destinations.
