Apply for a Grant

Young scientists (either with or without a PhD) are invited to apply for a 500 euros grant, supported by the Academia Europaea, to participate in the meeting.

The grants will be provided according to the following rules:

  • Three grants will be given to young scientists who do not possess yet a PhD
  • Three grants will be given to young scientists within six years from their PhD
  • A committee will evaluate the proposals and identify the grant recipients.

Committee composition:

  • Michel Diament (Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris)
  • Stavros Katsanevas (Director of EGO – European Gravitational Observatory)
  • Giovanni Macedonio (INGV Osservatorio Vesuviano)
  • Francesca Moglia (DESY-APPEC, Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron)
  • Paolo Papale (INGV Pisa; Chair, Earth and Cosmic Sciences section of the Academia Europaea

Criteria for selection:

The applicants within each one of the two above categories will be ranked in terms of two criteria: 1) their CV,  2) relevance of the meeting for their current research activities.

General Rules:

  • The deadline for application is on January 13, 2019, midnight CET. Please send your proposal HERE. The structure and content of the proposal is reported below.
  • The names of successful applicants will be published in the meeting web page by no later than January 18, 2019.
  • Acceptance of the grant involves the commitment to present a poster at the meeting, on themes and activities relevant to the meeting topics.

Proposal submission:

The proposal should be organized in ONE SINGLE FILE, named as surname_grant1 (for proponents not in possession of a PhD) or surname_grant2 (for proponents in possession of a PhD), containing:

  • A max 1-page section reporting Name, Affiliation, E-mail, current position, date of PhD (only for grant2 applications), name of at least one senior reference scientist, max 10 lines explaining current research activities, max 10 lines explaining why the meeting can be of relevance for the personal research and career perspectives
  • A max 1-page CV
  • List of publications
