Description

The observable Universe is presently dominated by matter, with antimatter making up only a tiny fraction of the Universe's content. Most interactions between elementary particles do not distinguish between matter and antimatter particles, motivating the search for CP violation in present experiments. This talk presents a glimpse into the electroweak baryogenesis mechanism, showing the conditions necessary to explain the observed Baryon Asymmetry. A selection of searches for CP violation is presented, with a particular focus on the studies performed in the Higgs sector by the CMS Collaboration.
