SVOM Burst Advocates Workshop
Les Houches
SVOM Burst Advocates Workshop
The workshop is organized from May 15 to May 22 at Chamonix Mont-Blanc (Ecole des Houches: https://www.houches-school-physics.com/the-school/). The goal of the workshop is to test the tools that will be available to the Burst Advocates, the future on-call scientists who will be responsible for the scientific organization of the multi-wavelength observations of the gamma-ray bursts detected by SVOM.
The workshop will begin with a general presentation of the SVOM data flow sequence and the achitecture of the science centers.
After this presentation, 3 GRB follow-up specialists will clarify the role of the “Burst Advocates" in 3 domains:
- The simulation of a GRB follow-up based on the Swift experience (BAT, XRT, UVOT).
- The organization of the short-term follow-up with robotic telescopes on the ground.
- The organization of long-term follow-up with large telescopes.
Then three half days hands-on sessions will be organized to train the SVOM BAs with the future tools that will be integrated into the scientific centers. A coding session will be organised for the developers to take into account the feedback from the hands-on.
