Venue
The school took place at the Institut d'Études Scientifiques de Cargèse in Corsica, France. Participants were accommodated either at the Institute itself or in the nearby village. See this webpage for more information about accommodation and meals at IESC.
Travel information
Participants were expected to arrive on Monday, September 12th and leave on Friday, September 23th in the afternoon. Shuttles from/to Ajaccio airport were arranged on these days, details had been communicated by email.
Once in Cargèse, you were greeted by the IESC staff who took you to your accommodation, either at the Institute or in the village. For participants staying in village apartments, you were also given explanations about how to have breakfast in the cafés.
If you come by your own means to Cargèse, please try to arrive at the Institute around the same time as the buses (which should be there around 4PM). It is not possible to arrive earlier since the rooms will not be ready and the staff will be unavailable.
If you intend to arrive/leave on different dates or by other means, see this IESC webpage for some information. Please note that taxis from/to Ajaccio airport are expensive (100-150 EUR) so it makes sense to gather together.
Social activities
We plan to organize a boat excursion on Saturday 17th afternoon. It is a great occasion to see the beautiful surroundings from the sea. The price is 25 EUR per person (to be paid by cash in advance) and we need to have at least 30 persons to book the tour. During the first week we will circulate a sheet for registration. Unfortunately, due to the weather and the rough sea which would make it rather unconfortable, the boat excursion has been cancelled.
On Saturday evening there was a piano concert at the Institute. Sunday was intentionally left free. Another piano concert took place on Wednesday 21 evening. On the last evening (Thursday 22) we had a barbecue at the Institute.
