Second SVOM non-GRB science workshop

Europe/Paris
Observatoire Astronomique Strasbourg

Observatoire Astronomique Strasbourg

Bat. Grande Coupole 11 rue de l'Universite Strasbourg Alsace 67000
Description

In the second workshop on SVOM non-GRB science we will discuss

  • the data products we expect from the mission in order to perform our scientific studies, such as images, lightcurves, and spectra. What do we expect from standard analysis, what is necessary for the quick look analysis?
  • the tools that should be available. What kind of tools do we need, shall a tool box be made available to the whole consortium, what about a web-based analysis system (like HERA)?
Participants

      Repointing proposition

      Need to be done:

      • scientific justification
      • slew duration?
      • thermal aspects
      • moon constraints
      • once project team to be ask to implement this

      Important arguments for repointing:

      • Galactic plane
      • ULX
      • TDE
      • total number of GRBs increases (but not observable from ground)
      • but: we loose the earth-occultation time

This additional program of additional targets outside the B1 law cannot be executed on short notice —> planning of a few weeks

      Source monitoring

      Action:
          •    to push for the idea our input would be important by end of November:
          •    scientific ideas to motivate re-pointing program

To prepare SVOM white paper :
SVOM science workshop in Les Houches “The deep and transient Universe in the SVOM era”

      VO compatibility:
          •    what are the main and critical aspects we have to consider to be VO compliant? Are e.g. ISGRI images already compliant with VO and if so, why? (Volodymyr)

Christian M. is going to check VO compatibility / requirements for MXT
