Our commitment
The AISSAI Hackathon is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, or level of experience. We do not tolerate harassment in any form.
This code of conduct applies to all hackathon spaces — scientific sessions, social activities, online channels, and informal interactions throughout the week.
Expected behaviour
All participants — including organisers, mentors, speakers, and artists — are expected to:
- Be respectful of different perspectives, backgrounds, and levels of expertise
- Be constructive in scientific discussion and code review: critique ideas, not people
- Be inclusive in team dynamics: actively make space for all voices, especially in mixed-skill groups
- Be considerate of shared working spaces, computing resources, and communal areas
- Exercise patience: hackathons are intense — give yourself and others room to breathe
- Respect boundaries: obtain consent before photography or recording; respect privacy
Unacceptable behaviour
The following will not be tolerated:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Sustained disruption of sessions or team work
- Demeaning, dismissive, or condescending comments about scientific background or skill level
- Unauthorised use or sharing of data, code, or results belonging to other teams
- Violation of the data usage and IP policy agreed before the event
Reporting
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this code of conduct, please report it to:
- The event coordinator: Adnan Ghribi — adnan.ghribi@ganil.fr
- Any member of the local organizing committee (identified by badge/lanyard at the event)
- Anonymously via a form that will be made available on this page before the event
All reports will be treated confidentially. The organizing committee will respond promptly and take appropriate action, up to and including removal from the event.
Enforcement
Organisers reserve the right to take any action necessary to maintain a welcoming environment, including a formal warning, temporary exclusion from sessions, or removal from the event. Travel grants will not be reimbursed in cases of removal due to code of conduct violations.
Acknowledgements
This code of conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant and community standards established by major scientific conferences in the physics and AI communities.
