Overview
The hackathon takes place at Les Domaines de Gaston, a beautiful estate in the Normandy countryside along the Seine, with cliffs, forests, and the river on the doorstep. The residential format is designed to foster informal exchange, spontaneous collaboration, and genuine human connection alongside the science.
On-site leisure (available throughout the week)
The estate offers a range of recreational facilities available to participants at any time outside working hours:
- Table football (baby-foot)
- Pool / billiards
- Table tennis (ping-pong)
The grounds and surrounding natural setting — 3.5 hectares of Norman countryside along the Seine — are open for walks, relaxation, and informal discussion at all times.
Wednesday afternoon — Outdoor activities
Wednesday afternoon is reserved for a shared break from the screens. Three outdoor activities are proposed, set in the exceptional natural landscape around Les Andelys (Seine valley, chalk cliffs, forest).
Participants sign up for one activity during registration or on Day 1.
Option A — Hiking
A guided walk through the Norman countryside and along the chalk cliffs overlooking the Seine valley. Suitable for all fitness levels. No additional fee.
What to bring: Hiking shoes or sturdy walking shoes (mandatory). The terrain can be uneven and muddy. Trainers/sneakers are not recommended.
Option B — Rock Climbing (Falaise)
Climbing on the chalk cliffs (falaises) of the Seine valley with certified instructors from a local club. All levels welcome; equipment provided on site.
Additional fee applies. The exact amount will be communicated before the event. Payment is made directly to the climbing club on the day.
What to bring: Comfortable sportswear, closed-toe shoes (climbing shoes provided by the club).
Option C — Canoë-Kayak
Paddling on the Seine with a local canoë-kayak club. A scenic and accessible activity for all levels; instructors accompany the group.
Additional fee applies. The exact amount will be communicated before the event. Payment is made directly to the club on the day.
What to bring: Clothes you don't mind getting wet, water shoes or sandals with a strap. A change of clothes recommended.

Activity preference will be collected in the registration form. Final confirmation and fee details will be sent to accepted participants closer to the event.
