To mark its 50th anniversary, the Institut National de Physique Nucléaire et de Physique des Particules (1) is pleased to invite you attend the international Symposium celebrating 50 years of physics from Particles to the Universe.

The symposium will take place at MUSEUM NATIONAL D’HISTOIRE NATURELLE 2:00-6:30 p.m. : Amphithéâtre Verniquet, 57 rue Cuvier, 75005 Paris

15:55 → 16:30 Exploring the Phase Diagram of Strongly Interacting Matter

This talk will adress different aspects of the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter, such as the liquid-gas phase transition at low temperature and the hadron quark gluon plasma cross over transition at high temperature. Selected results from GANIL, GSI, the AGS and RHIC at BNL as well as the SPS and the LHC at CERN will be presented and discussed in the framework of theory and phenomenology.

18:10 → 18:45 Probing dark energy

The discovery of the acceleration of the expanding universe in the late 1990’s in one of the most exciting developments in modern physics over the last half-century. It’s existence challenges some our most basic understandings of fundamental physics. I will review the various methods we can use to derive improved constraints on this phenomenon, with particular emphasis on two major “Stage IV” experiments that are either just coming on line or nearing construction completion: the Dark Energy Survey Instrument and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. I will also discuss the current state of the field including the latest “tensions”.

If you are not attending the symposium and are coming later to visit the exhibition, please join us betweem 6 and 6.45pm at the entrance to the Verniquet amphitheatre where we will give you access badges. You will then be able to join the visit with all the guests.

20:00 → 23:30 Dinner-cocktail at the Grande galerie de l'évolution

If you are only attending the dinner-cocktail, you can join us from 7.30 pm onwards directly at la Grande galerie de l'évolution. A badge will be given to you at the entrance to access the exhibition areas. All guests coming from the symposium will arrive between 8 pm and 8.30 pm. The dinner-coktail will start at 8.30 pm.
