Description

The European Spallation Source (ESS) will pioneer the next generation of neutron sources, following the new concept of Long Pulse Spallation Sources. It will be based on a 5 MW linear proton accelerator, creating neutrons by the spallation process. The slow neutron beam intensities delivered to the samples will substantially exceed all existing or currently built neutron sources for condensed matter research by neutron scattering, and open up a host of new scientific opportunities. The poster will describe the new source concept and its performance characteristics.
