Tips to visit the city on your own

Wednesday afternoon will be free of sessions and you will have the opportunity to visit Bordeaux and its nice monuments on your own before the gala dinner.

Tourism in Bordeaux

One city, a thousand atmospheres
Now you're ready to throw yourself body and soul into discovering the countless atmospheres and settings that make Bordeaux so unique. Welcome! Once you've put your suitcase down, take your time (we live in "slow" mode here!) to immerse yourself in Bordeaux's art de vivre by strolling from neighborhood to neighborhood. While our comprehensive, practical guide will help you choose your activities, the people of Bordeaux will tell you all about their favorites. So when you're leafing through these pages on a terrace, at the market or in transit, don't hesitate to ask your neighbor for advice.

The charm of contrasts
A city of stone and wine, Bordeaux marvels at the rare homogeneity of its historic architectural heritage, and at the same time surprises with its urban contrasts. On either side of the Garonne, ancient monuments stand side by side with contemporary architecture in perfect harmony. Whether on foot or by bike, you'll find plenty of opportunities to stroll around the city and take in the scenery.

Creative and sporty
Inspiring and dynamic, Bordeaux gives free rein to creative energies. This effervescence is reflected in a rich program of museums, festivals and major events, as well as on the city's walls in the form of street-art frescoes. This year's highlights include an exceptional exhibition of paintings by Monet and Manet at the Musée des Beaux Arts from March to June, Bordeaux Fête le Vin in June and the men's and women's Olympic soccer matches in July.

Where good living goes hand in hand with good eating
