The CNRS National Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (IN2P3) acts as national leader and coordinator in the fields of nuclear, particle and astroparticle physics, technological advances and their related applications, especially in the health and energy sectors. This research aims to explore particle and nuclear physics, fundamental interactions, and the links between the infinitely small and the infinitely large.

      CNRS

      3 rue MIchel-Ange 75016 Paris

France Grilles is a multidisciplinary distributed computing Infrastructure that is open to all sciences and to developing countries. France Grilles is an open space for collaborations within and across disciplines and organizations. Operated by CNRS institute IN2P3, France Grilles’ main objectives are as follows:
      - Establish and operate a national production grid and cloud infrastructure for high throughput data analysis and storage.
      - Contribute with the other countries involved to the EGI European e-infrastructure (http://www.egi.eu).
      - Strengthen synergies and collaborations between teams doing research on grids and clouds and teams using them for scientific production.
The infrastructure includes more than 40,000 processors and about 25 Pbyte of distributed storage on twelve sites in France. The France Grilles academic cloud federation has 10 sites (seven in production status) and offers a total capacity of more than 4,000 cores and over 1Pbyte of storage.

Harmonising the French computing landscape 25m Room Jean Perrin

      Room Jean Perrin

      CNRS

      3 rue MIchel-Ange 75016 Paris

A coordinated set of initiatives is on its way in France in order to reduce fragmentation of the e-infrastructure landscape, to enhance interoperability, and to give seamless access to different types of computing (HTC, HPC, ...) and to distributed data. In a first step, the national and regional data centers are identified and are then going to be connected to a 'French Open Science Cloud'. Another recently launched initiative is going to push for AI development in France.
