Description

We review the status of the Lake Baikal Neutrino Experiment. Preparation towards a km3-scale Gigaton Volume Detector (GVD) in Lake Baikal is currently a central activity. A prototype string for the future km3-scale Baikal neutrino telescope has been deployed and is fully integrated into the NT200+ telescope. We describe preliminary design and expected sensitivity of the GVD telescope, and discuss the experience of the GVD prototype string operation. We also present recent results from the long-term operation of NT200.
