Location and directions (NEW!!!)

Conference Venue:

All talks will take place in the Amphithéâtre Bloch, which is located at the entrance of the Institut de Physique Théorique (IPhT), situated on the "Orme des Merisiers" site of CEA-Saclay (map).

Getting to IPhT from Paris (NEW!!):

A special bus will be arranged for the workshop participants (speakers and attendants) every morning from Porte d'Orleans in south Paris to the IPhT, and every evening in the opposite direction. Departure in the morning is at 8:15am (sharp!), see here for the exact departure location.

To avoid confusion with other buses possibly floating around in Porte d'Orleans, here is a picture of the bus you will have to take. It is a green bus "Le Cars Martins" and it will have a sign next to the driver mentioning "21st Itzykson Conference" as well as the venue "CEA Orme des Merisiers".

Porte d'Orleans is along the metro line 4, which has stops in several locations in the southern part of Paris, and it is also walking distance from several of the suggested hotels (15mins from Denfert Rochereau, 25mins from Porte Royale).

Getting to IPhT from the Airports:

The IPhT can be reached from Paris, or from the airports, with RER B train in the direction "Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse" or "Orsay". Get a ticket to the station "Le Guichet", zone 1-5, price 4 euros (you can buy the same ticket also for the return).

If you fly into Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG), located north of Paris, you can take the RERB directly from airport terminal 2. Transit time to IPhT is about 1.5-2 hours, as you have to go through Paris. If you fly into Paris Orly airport (ORY), located south of Paris between the city and Saclay, from the terminals you can take a quick shuttle train ("Orlyval") to the RERB. Transit time to IPhT is about 1hour.

Make sure you are on a train stopping at "Le Guichet" (this information being displayed on the signs on the platform for trains going towards Saint-Rémy).

Once in Le Guichet see below.

Getting to IPhT from Le Guichet RER B Station:

TAXI/CABS: Outside the RER B station in Le Guichet there are usually taxi available. A ride to IPhT should be less than 10minutes and about 10EUR. Alternatively, you can also call the taxi service "Association Taxi des Ulis-Bures"  at +33 1 69 07 48 88

PUBLIC BUS: From Le Guichet you can reach the "Orme des Merisiers" where IPhT is located with the public bus line 9:

bus 9 Monday to Friday
Morning
from RER B - Le guichet
to "Orme des Merisiers" bus stop
Every 10 min. from 8:05 to 9:35, then every 20 min.
Evening

In order to change from the RER B train to the bus, follow the crowd exiting the train at "Le guichet", pass below the railways, and walk along a brasserie. Cross the road, then walk along a kindergarden and through a pedestrian walk you will get to the bus station, on the opposite side of Rue Louise Weiss. Here is a map of the path from RERB to the bus station on rue Louise Weiss:

Get off at the bus 9 stop "Orme des Merisiers" and then follow the sidewalk until you see the main entrance of CEA. Take the main road until the very end, the IPhT is located on the right, see the map below.

More creative possibilities can be found on the vianavigo website, inserting as the IPhT location "Orme de Merisiers, Saint-Aubin". The Orme des Merisiers CEA site is, in fact, on the border between the Gif-sur-Yvette and Saint-Aubin municipalities. See also directions on the IPhT website.
