After giving a brief overview of our comprehension of flavour physics within the Standard Model, I will discuss how New Physics can change the game, forcing us to modify our frame of mind to analyse its impact. As an illustration, I will focus on two prominent places for such searches for New Physics, neutral-meson mixing and radiative B decays.
