Supersymmetric grand unification in extra dimensions has been a very
active topic of research during the last decade. In this talk we will
review how GUT-scale extra dimensions can help with the problems of
conventional 4D GUTs, as well as with the flavour problem. They also
provide elegant and predictive mechanisms for mediating supersymmetry
breaking. These can lead to characteristic soft term patterns, such as a
degenerate GUT-scale Higgs mass matrix. We will discuss the soft terms
in certain classes of models and their implications for LHC physics.
