General Information
1. What is "L'art in la Doua 2025"?
The "L'art in la Doua 2025" is an event showcasing the artistic dimensions of scientific research. Researchers, postdocs, and students from INSA Lyon 1 University are invited to submit works such as images, videos, or sculptures that highlight the beauty of their scientific work.
2. When and where will the exhibition take place?
The exhibition will be held at the INSA Library, La Doua Campus from February 3rd to February 28th, 2025.
3. Who can participate?
The exhibition is open to all members of INSA and Lyon 1 University, including students, postdocs, researchers, and faculty across all fields of study.
4. Is there a participation fee?
No, participation is completely free.
5. Can I attend the exhibition?
Yes, the exhibition will be open to the public, and participants are encouraged to attend. Attendance is also free. The event is not limited to Lyon 1 University or INSA members—everyone is welcome, including people from outside the university community.
6. Will there be an opening event for the exhibition?
Yes, there will be a vernissage (opening reception) during the first week of the exhibition. This event will provide an opportunity for participants, the jury, and the public to come together and celebrate the selected works. Further details about the date and time will be announced closer to the event.
Submission Guidelines
1. How do I submit my work?
You can submit your work by completing the submission form on our website. Each participant can submit up to three contributions (images, videos, or 3D objects). They can be of the same type (3 images) or different.
2. What types of submissions are accepted?
You can submit images, photography, videos, sculptures, or 3D objects. All submissions should reflect the artistic side of scientific research.
3. How many works can I submit?
You can submit a maximum of three contributions.
4. What file formats are accepted?
- Images: JPEG, PNG
- Videos: MP4, AVI
- Sculpture/3D object: Please provide high-quality images or videos of the object.
- Files name: all submissions should be named as AuthorName_WorkName
6. Are there specific aspect ratios required for images?
Yes, images should have an aspect ratio of either 1:1, 3:2, or 4:3.
7. What is the required resolution for image submissions?
For best results, images should be submitted in high resolution (minimum 300 DPI) to ensure quality printing.
8. How will the works be exposed?
Selected images will be printed on Forex, a lightweight 5 mm thick white hard-foam panel. Videos will be played on digital screens, without sound. Statues will be demonstrated on the specialized stands.
9. Can I submit collaborative work?
Yes, collaborative submissions are welcome. Please ensure all contributors are credited in your submission.
10. When is the submission deadline?
The submission deadline is November 14th. Make sure to submit your work before this date to be considered for the exhibition.
Description Requirements
1. What descriptions do I need to provide with my submission?
Each submission must include:
- A scientific description explaining the technical details and background of the work, written in accessible language for non-specialists.
- An artistic description that explains the inspiration behind your work, also written in accessible language
2. Can I write the descriptions in any language?
Yes, descriptions can be written in either French or English.
Intellectual Property
1. Who retains ownership of the submitted works?
You retain full ownership of your work. By submitting your work, you are simply granting the exhibition organizers permission to display it during the event and use it for non-commercial promotional materials related to the exhibition (e.g. postcards, posters, social media posts, etc.).
2. What kind of permission am I giving the organizers by submitting my work?
By submitting your work, you agree to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This allows others to share your work with proper attribution for non-commercial purposes. No commercial use will be made of your submission by the organizers.
3. Will my work be used for commercial purposes?
No, your work will only be used for non-commercial purposes such as exhibition displays and promotional materials. Explicit permission of the authors will be requested for any use beyond above mentioned.
4. Do I need permission from collaborators to submit?
Yes, if your submission involves collaborators or co-creators, you must obtain their permission before submitting the work. By submitting, you confirm that you have obtained the necessary rights from all contributors.
Selection Process
1. How will the works be selected?
Submissions will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary jury of scientists and artists. The jury will evaluate works based on their artistic and scientific merit.
2. Will all submitted works be displayed?
Not all submissions may be selected for display. Only the most compelling and creative works will be chosen for the exhibition by the jury.
3. What happens if my work is selected?
If your work is selected, it will be displayed at the INSA Library from February 3rd to February 28th, 2025. You will be notified by email.
4. When will I be notified if my work is selected?
You will be notified by December 15th whether your submission has been selected for the exhibition.
