Description

The aim of the "Journées Théorie de la communauté Hautes Énergies" is to bring together French astronomers and physicists interested in the theoretical aspects of high-energy astrophysics. These "Journées" are particularly important in the current context, which is seeing unprecedented growth in this area of astrophysics. Major experimental developments, both ground-based and in space with IXPE, Swift, Fermi, H.E.S.S., MAGIC, LHAASO, EHT, GRAVITY, Antares, KM3NeT, IceCube, Auger, LIGO, VIRGO, LoFAR, Meerkat, etc., have offered a new view of high-energy phenomena, which requires new theoretical developments and new numerical simulation tools for high-performance computing.

 

- Are you more of a theorist or modeller? What problems do you tackle? What is your approach? What do you expect from observations?


- Are you more of an observer or an experimenter? come and find out what motivates the theorists and ask them any questions you might have!

 

This domain of research covers a wide range of thematics and methodologies shared by researchers from a large number of institutes. The scientific programme will cover both theoretical and numerical aspects, and will be divided into five major themes:  

  • "New physics - The Universe as laboratory", on fundamental physics (e.g. physics beyond the standard model, strong field gravity and equation of state of dense matter) 
  • "Compact objects and their environment", including black holes of different masses, neutron stars and binary systems 
  • "High-energy particles", dealing with the origin of high-energy photons, cosmic rays and neutrinos 
  • "Transient phenomena", including gamma-ray bursts, radio bursts, supernovae, ...
  • "Gravitational waves", including stochastic backgrounds and isolated sources.

 

The programme is now accessible here. It contains about ten review presentations (30mn) and around forty contributions (15mn).

Note that two sessions will be in hybrid mode and shared with the Theory, Universe and Gravitation (TUG) meeting that will occur the same days as these Journées. These joint sessions will focus on joint themes like gravitational waves, fundamental interactions and dark matter

Presentations by the young researchers of this field will be strongly encouraged.

Participation is free but registration is mandatory. The programme is wide open to your contributions! The deadline is 13 September 2024.

While face-to-face sessions are strongly recommended to enable researchers to interact with each other, it will also be possible to follow the conference remotely.

Timetable:

  • 27 May 2024: registration opens with abstract submission
  • 13 September 2024: closing date for abstract submission and selection of contributions
  • 11 October 2024: final programme drawn up and posted
  • 4-7 November 2024: conference days
