On November 27th, 2022, our friend and colleague Prof. Stavros Katsanevas passed away. At APC Laboratory, his beloved laboratory, we wish to pay tribute to him through a day, which will be dedicated to the man, the physicist, the philosopher that he was.

Before directing it between 2014 and 2017, Stavros was one of the founders of the APC laboratory, as Deputy Scientific Director of IN2P3 between 2002 and 2012, in charge of Astroparticles, Cosmology and Neutrino Physics.

At the forefront, Stavros was at the origin of many scientific initiatives and coordination actions such as the European programs ILIAS and ASPERA, which led to the creation of the European Astroparticle Consortium (APPEC) aimed at developing a common roadmap.

With a great open-mindedness, he has promoted all the bridges: between Earth sciences and sciences of the Universe, between Art and Science, between science and society.

Stavros passed away as he completed his term as head of EGO (European Gravitational Observatory) and prepared his return to APC as Professor Emeritus.

Stavros leaves us a legacy of vision and passion!

If you cannot attend the symposium but wish to share a few words, you have the possibility to record a video message, which will be broadcasted. Please send the video to Sarodia Vydelingum
