Quark-gluon plasma: lessons from the lattice

I review what has been learnt from lattice simulations about the properties of the QGP. I discuss recent results on its thermodynamics, static structure and transport properties, which I compare to both weak coupling predictions and strong coupling results obtained by AdS/CFT methods.
