Description
The GRAVITY instrument has been installed on the VLTI in 2015 with the
goal of probing the space-time metric near SgrA*, the black-hole at the
Galactic Center, through the orbits of stars at a few light hours and
material very near the event horizon. Those goals have been reached in
2018. I will recall the history of Galactic Center research in the past
fifty years, describe the GRAVITY instrument and present those
tantalizing results.
