Exact methods in low dimensional statistical physics

Europe/Paris
Description

This school follows two previous summer schools held in Les Houches: "Topological Aspects of Low-Dimensional Systems" in 1998 and "Exact Methods in Low-Dimensional Statistical Physics and Quantum Computing" in 2008.

It seeks to familiarize young theoretical and mathematical physicists with modern methods in conformal field theories, integrable systems, combinatorics and probabilities, and to present various subjects at the forefront of fundamental research in condensed matter theoretical physics and statistical mechanics at large. In recent years, the field has been enriched by new themes, as well as by new developments in traditional topics, such as two- and higher-dimensional Conformal Field Theory, Quantum Hall Effect, Non-Equilibrium Systems and Transport Phenomena. Major mathematical advances have also taken place in Integrable Structures in Gauge Theories, Combinatorics, Random Maps, Liouville Quantum Gravity and SLE, and Integrable Probability, to which we would also like to introduce the students.

The meeting will give an opportunity for physicists and mathematicians from different fields to exchange ideas and have a global perspective on front-line research.
