Description
Within the Pierre Auger Observatory (PAO) several experiments have been taking place that use radio antennas in order to observe cosmic ray induced air showers. In this talk, I will focus on the progress that has been made in the radio measurements in the 30-80 MHz regime. After a short introduction on the Pierre Auger observatory, I will guide you through the progress that has been made in radio detection in PAO since 2007 which resulted in the Auger Engineering Radio Array. In this overview I will pay special attention to the technical developments that have been taking place in order to allow the expansion of the radio effort. The data from AERA, currently a 17 square kilometer radio array, is calibrated against the well understood particle detectors and fluorescence telescopes of the observatory, giving valuable input for both model builders and new experiments. The will recent results of AERA will be discussed.
