Description
The Dirac or Majorana nature of neutrinos could be investigated searching
for processes violating the lepton number, like the neutrino-less double beta
decay. The broad implications the discovery of such process will have on particle
physics has triggered a rich experimental scenario.
SuperNEMO is a new generation experiment based on the tracko-calo technique,
already adopted with success by NEMO3. The key feature of SuperNEMO
is its uniques capability to fully reconstruct the kinematics of the
events, which allows to reduce the backgrounds and to discriminate among
different mechanism beyond the neutrino-less double beta decay.
After a brief overview of the double beta decay physics and the current experimental
scenario, this brief seminar will focus on the R&D effort towards a high
radio-purity 82Se foil source for the SuperNEMO demonstrator module.
