The top quark is the most massive of the elementary particles. It is this distinction that makes the top quark so interesting to phenomenology as it is typically the most closely related to proposals of physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). The four top signal has been proposed as a probe to test many models involving New Physics. Many theories can lead to an excess in the four top production rate. The SM prediction for four top production at the LHC is very small, any sizeable signal would imply New Physics. The analysis is done on 2011 data following a general and model independent approach: Low-energy effective field theory. No excess of events has been observed in the analized data.
