Description
The Large Hadron Collider can be regarded as a "top factory": the high cross sections at 14 TeV pp collisions for pair production and electroweak single production (roughly 830 pb and 310 pb respectively in the Standard Model) and the high design luminosity will permit a high degree of precision in the measurement of the properties of the currently less known quark, opening a new test field for the Standard Model and most of the alternative theories attempting to explain the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking.
This seminar will follow a conceptual path for CMS data analyses going from the "re-discovery" of the top quark with the very early data (~10 pb-1) to the search for new phenomena in the top sector, by studying the top quark couplings in both production and decays.
