Description
In this talk, after having briefly described what inflation is, I will discuss, in a pedagogical way, the inflationary mechanism for the production of cosmological perturbations. In particular, I will emphasize the quantum-mechanical origin of the primordial fluctuations. Then, I will review the main observational predictions of inflation and will discuss the current constraints that exist on various different realizations of the inflationary scenario.
