We advise 2 spots for you hotel reservation. The first spot is very close to the stadium and that thursday Olympique de Marseille plays at home, so book as early as you can !
A) If you want to stay the closest possible to the Luminy campus where is located CPPM and the Hexagone, we advise hotels around Boulevard du Prado, between Place Castellane and Rond Point du Prado :

2) B&B Hotel Marseille Prado Parc des Exposition, 6 Rue Cassis
3) Appart'City Confort Marseille Centre Prado, 1 Rue Vandel
4) Appart'Hotel Odalys, 114 Rue du Rouet
All these hotels are within walking distance to Metro station Perrier, and to bus station B1 to Luminy. Both stations are located on Boulevard du Prado.To go downtown, take the metro direction Gèze. When you walk from the hotels to bus station B1, you'll have to cross the Boulevard du Prado.
B) If you want to stay downtown, the most interesting place is around the Vieux Port. Here are some places:

6) Hotel Carré Vieux Port, 6 rue Beauveau
7) Greet Hotel, 4 Allée Léon Gambetta
5) and 6) are close to Metro station Vieux Port. Metro 7) is close to Metro station Noailles. The metro in both stations can take you to Place Castellane where you can take bus B1 to Luminy. The three hotels are within walking distance to les Arcenaults, where we will have the social dinner.

Public transportation to Luminy:
1) From Marseille airport:
The best and cheapest way is to take the airport shuttel. The station is on your left when you get out of the airport. You can buy the ticket at the office near the station or on automatic machines. The shuttel will bring you to Marseille main railway station (Saint Charles) in half an hour or so. The rest of your journey is described below, from Marseille railway station Saint Charles.
2) From Marseille railway station Saint Charles:
Take Metro 1 (direction la Fouragère) or Metro 2 (direction Sainte Marguerite Dromel) to Place Castellane Metro station. At Castellane, get out of the Metro underground and take bus B1 to Luminy. Get out of the bus at station Luminy Faculté. Then look at the Luminy plan to walk to Hexagone or CPPM.
3) From hotels on spot A:
Walk towards Boulevard du Prado, cross it and go to Prado Perrier bus station (on your left when you arrive on the Prado Boulevard). Then take bus B1 to Luminy. Get out of the bus at station Luminy Faculté. Then look at the Luminy plan to walk to Hexagone or CPPM.
4) From hotels on spot B:
Take the Metro either from Vieux Port station or Noailles station and get out Metro station Place Castellane. Get out of the Metro underground and take the B1 bus direction Luminy. Get out of the bus at station Luminy Faculté. Then look at the Luminy plan to walk to Hexagone or CPPM.
Bus and Metro ticket :
If you plan to visit Marseille, the best solution is to buy from automatic machines a 10-trip ticket on your arrival. It costs 15.10 euros.
If you do not plan extra trips, then individual tickets can be bought from machines (1,70 euros) or even 2 way tickets at 3,40 euros).
If you want to buy a ticket from the bus driver, you have to have change, and it will cost 2 euros.
You'll have to validate the ticket each time you enter a Metro or a bus, even during connections.
