Description

Microdosimetry is used to measure the dose delivered in Hadron Therapy. The actual 2d-array system designed and produced by IMB-CNM can measure proton intensities of up to 10^8 p/s/sqcm. It is composed of micro cylindrical Si-detectors arrays of 1000 channels. New therapy requires higher beam intensities of up to 10^10 or 10^11 p/s/sqcm in which this actual electronics cannot handle. This R&T is based on new electronics which can handle beam intensities up to the required value. A proof of Concept is designed at IJCLAB to validate this new electronics concept. It is composed of 2 x 4 channels of different detector array types. These detectors are mounted and bonded on 8 High frequency amplifiers and then the signal is digitized @ 8 GHz SAMPIC module. The goal of this R&T is to build a multichannel demonstrator qualified on a proton accelerator with energy ranges from 6 to 20 MeV. This R&T is a collaboration between IJCLAB electronic department and Bio Alto group with IMB-CNM CSIC lab of Barcelona.
