Description
The idea that spacetime is endowed with a coarse-grained structure emerges in many fundamental theories. It is therefore important to study the phenomenology associated with the existence of a minimal length. During the seminar, I will discuss some aspects of this issue. In particular, I will focus on a recent and alternative approach to non-commutativity, which makes use of coordinate coherent states. This model has the advantage of being UV finite, unitary and does not make use of the usual star-product among fields. I will consider in particular the non-commutative modifications induced on quantum field theory, on the transplanckian problem, and on inflation.
