SPIRAL1 beams

Radioactive ion beams (RIB) already produced at the SPIRAL1 facility, and expected yields for other RIBs are given here:  https://u.ganil-spiral2.eu/chartbeams/

Questions regarding their availability, expected purity or about the timeline whenever technical developments are required should be sent to Pierre Chauveau (pierre.chauveau@ganil.fr).

S3-LEB beams

The table below gives a list of elements for which (Ti:Sa) laser-ionization schemes are existing and that are either expected to be produced during the commissioning of the S3 spectrometer or that make part of the Day-1 S3-LEB experimental program or specific ongoing S3-LEB projects. They should be available as S3-LEB RIBs in the coming years, although their yields depend on a number of parameters that are not always known: availability and behaviour of the production target under irradiation, gas-cell window thickness/robustness, behaviour of the element in the gas cell (molecular formation), laser ionization efficiency, etc…

The expected difficulty of the laser-ionization schemes, considering the available S3-LEB laser system, is mentioned in the table. Schemes labelled as "hard" require dedicated off-line developments and might only provide limited efficiency.

The fusion-evaporation reactions listed (commissioning phase) is not optimal for all n-deficient isotopes along a given isotopic chains, and the lifetime of the reaction products must be balanced with the (argon) gas-cell evacuation time of 280 ms at best. Elements listed in the table should therefore be regarded as indicative of what could be in principle available at/from S3-LEB, but the actual RIBs yields will need to be checked online and more efficient fusion-evaporation reactions investigated.

The table lists also non-metallic elements that will not be produced at S3-LEB.

Questions regarding the expected yields for given isotopes should be sent to chartbeams-s3@ganil.fr.
