Access

To access the GANIL campus, present yourself at the gate (see map) with a valid ID document.

Lodging & dining

Lodging will be provided to all participants at the guest house (maison d'hôtes), and dining will be offered at the cafeteria during the week (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and a per diem will be provided for the weekends.

A supermarket (Carrefour) and a McDonald's restaurant are available right accros the street, and many excellent options are accessible using the tramway (several stations near GANIL).

 

By airplane

Whether you arrive in Charles de Gaule (CDG) or Orly (ORY) airport, you have two options to reach Caen:

  1. By bus directly from the airport (see "By bus from the airports" instructions below)
  2. By train from the Saint-Lazare train station. This train station can be reached via subway (see below) or taxi (for about 56 euros).

 

Arrival in Paris – Charles de Gaulle airport

To go to the Saint-Lazare train station, take the RER B subway (to the Chatelet-Les Halles train station), followed by the metro line n°14 direction Saint-Denis – Pleyel (to the Gare Saint Lazare train station).

Then follow the "By train from Paris" instructions below.

Arrival in Paris – Orly airport

Go to the Saint-Lazare train station, using the metro line n°14 direct to Saint-Lazare.

By train from Paris 

Trains to Caen leave from the Saint Lazare station. Once you reach Caen train station, go through the tunnel inside the train station towards the shopping center and the tramway station "Quai de Juillet", take T2 tramway direction "Campus 2" and get off at "Côte de Nacre" station. Tickets can be purchased from the vending machine at the tramway stop.

By bus from the airports 

FlixBus and BlaBlaCar Bus run direct services to Caen bus station (next to the train station). Tickets for the bus should be purchased online.

 

By bus from Paris – Charles de Gaulle airport

Take CDGVAL airport train and get off at the "Terminal 1&3" stop. Then head to the bus station.

By bus from Paris - Orly airport

Look for departures at the designated bus parking areas (e.g., "Orly Parking Cars de groupe 1" for BlaBlaCar Bus or the specific FlixBus stop near the terminals – check your ticket/app for the exact bay).
