Description

Join us for a new edition of the Gate 10 Hackathon,

... an exciting hands-on event taking place from February 3 to 5, 2026, at the Holland Proton Therapy Center in Delft, The Netherlands. This unique gathering is your chance to delve into the new Python-based version 10 of the Monte Carlo software GATE, built upon the powerful Geant4 framework.

Whether you're a seasoned Gate enthusiast or a newcomer, this hackathon is for you.

Based on our experience from previous successful editions, we have tailored the event's format to be open, flexible, enriching and fun for everyone. Together with other Gate users and developers, you will have the opportunity to set-up a simulation or to implement a new feature in Gate 10. With a maximum of 25 participants, we ensure an intimate and productive atmosphere for everyone to thrive. And who knows - maybe the collaborative and inspiring environment of the hackathon will be the starting point of your next research project.

You should bring along basic computer science and programming knowledge, and ideally some experience in Python, but if you are an expert-programmer that's even better.

The fee of 150 Euro covers catering during the event (coffee and lunch breaks; dinners on February 3 and 4). Travel and accommodation are paid by the participants.

Don't miss out on this unique chance to expand your horizons in next generation Monte Carlo radiation transport simulation, learn from and with experts, and contribute to the future of Gate 10. Register before December 23, 2025, and be a part of this exciting journey. See you in Delft!

Mini symposium on Monte Carlo simulation of particles and radiation

As a satellite event, we are organizing a mini symposium just before the start of the hackathon, at the same location, namely Holland Proton Therapy Center. You find talks and speakers in the program. The symposium is free of charge, does not require any registration, and can also be followed online via Teams
