Precision cosmology with Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) requires a photometry accuracy at the permil level. The Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) running at Palomar Observatory (Caltech, California) is observing the Northern sky since more than six years with several thousand SNe Ia detected. The three first years SNe Ia data release to be transformed from an astrophysical dataset to a cosmological one requires a full measurement of the optical transmission of the ZTF instrument. This journey at Palomar Observatory is a travel journal of the optical characterisation of ZTF, a French IN2P3 effort to transform ZTF data to a cosmological legacy.
The seminar is designed for non experts with a focus on the scientific “adventure”.
