Meeting room & Library Reading Rooms A&B

INAF-OATs, Basovizza, Trieste

Loc. Basovizza 302 Trieste, Italy
Description

The first Technology Forum of the Astronomy Competence Center Pilot project will take place at the Basovizza Observing Station of the INAF-Astronomical Observatory of Trieste from Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 October 2025.

Due to organizational constraints, in person attendance is limited to 40 people, please register asap if you plan to join us, registrations will be considered on a first come, first served basis.

The Technology Forum is meant to engage the community on the topics of technical standards and interoperability frameworks to enable FAIR data services in the domains of astronomy, heliospheric physics, planetary science, and astro-particle physics.

The target audience includes ESFRIs, other research infrastructures, and experts in the various interoperability frameworks.

The goal is to share technical expertise and best practices in the implementation of FAIR enabling technologies, and the use and development of open standards.

The format consists in topical sessions followed by practical hack-a-thon sessions for hands-on work in a collaborative mode.

A list of potential hack-a-thon topics is already available, as well as a draft time table of existing/foreseen contributions. Don't hesitate to propose yours!

The venue is not (easily) reachable by public means of transportation, a shuttle service will be provided to get to the venue in the morning and get back to Trieste city center at the end of the working day.

Registration will close in mid September (to allow finalising organisational tasks).
