Description
Micropollutants and emerging organic contaminants are produced by anthropogenic activities. Part of these contaminants have been individually studied in terms of persistence, removal, human risk assessment, toxicology, etc. However, the admissibility of chronic low doses of complex mixtures for the ecosystem has not been assessed.
How do micropollutants diffuse in the environment?
How do living organisms cope with a chronic exposure to low doses of diverse micropollutants?
Is there a cocktail effect or a chance for hormesis?
To answer these questions, we used metabolomics to study different compartments of the environment from the molecular point of view: water, sludge, spontaneous plants, animals. We revealed the incredible metabolic adaptations of living organisms to survive in these conditions.
