Getting to Trieste

By train:

The main train station is Trieste Centrale. Some long-distance trains coming to Trieste Centrale might involve changing trains in Venezia-Mestre. Train tickets should be bought in advance either online, from an automatic vending machine or from a sales assistant.

By plane:

Trieste Ronchi dei Legionari airport is located approximately 40 km from the city center. We recommend taking a train from the airport to Trieste Centrale train station for the most convenient transportation option. Alternatively, you can use the APT coach service (Line G51) to reach Trieste train station. Tickets for the coach service can be purchased from the blue machine located just beyond the arrival gates or through the TPL FVG smartphone app. If you prefer a taxi, expect the fare to be around €45 with an additional charge for luggage.

Venice Marco Polo airport is also a convenient choice, offering a wider range of flights compared to Ronchi dei Legionari. From Venice Marco Polo, you can easily reach Trieste by taking a bus to Venezia-Mestre train station and then a direct train to Trieste.

Alternatively, you can consider Treviso A. Canova airport as a third option. Although it offers limited flights from/to certain locations, it may have more affordable options. From Treviso Canova, you can take a bus to Treviso train station and then catch a direct train to Trieste.
