Description
Line defects play a crucial role in conformal field theories (CFTs), as they break the conformal symmetry while remaining highly constraining for the correlators. In this talk, I will give an overview of recent progresses in defect CFTs in the weak and strong coupling regimes. This will be done in three parts. The first one will present modern bootstrap techniques for computing two-point functions of bulk operators in the presence of a defect, with the Wilson line in N=4 SYM as an example. The second one will be dedicated to multipoint functions of defect operators inserted along the Wilson line, where non-perturbative constraints are derived from perturbative results. Finally, in the third part I will depart from supersymmetry and briefly discuss line defects in Yukawa CFTs across dimensions.
