Description

The Standard Model of particle physics describes elementary particles and their interactions extremely precisely. Despite its impressive predictive power, some well-established experimental facts, such as matter-antimatter asymmetry or the presence of dark matter and dark energy, suggest the existence of a more fundamental theory of elementary particles. In this context, rare decays of B mesons with tau leptons in the final state, still little studied experimentally, represent very powerful probes for New Physics beyond the Standard Model.
This seminar presents the search for the rare B0 -> K*0 tau+ tau- decay using the full dataset collected by the LHCb experiment.
