      OSSR metadata: CITATION.cff
Orateur: Dr Thomas Vuillaume (LAPP, CNRS)

      # Discussion about OpenSSF badge

Thomas went thourgh the questionnaire for the eOSSR and added the badge to the README:

      https://bestpractices.coreinfrastructure.org/fr/projects/5712

      >> The process was a bit longish. The first part(s) of  the questionnaire is general good practice for software and was easy to fill. The last part(s) were a bit more obscure and focused to security. Maybe the OpenSSF is not the best place for a basic library that does have any link to security.

      # Discussion about CITATION.cff

      • Marjolein raises the point that CITATION.cff and codemeta.json probably answer different needs (the former being to cite software)
        • >> CITATION.cff is like a subset of codemeta ?
      • Enrique raises the point that CITATION.cff might be complementary with CodeMeta and also cover some things not covered by codemeta.

      Conclusion of the discussion:

      • ESAP is moving towards adopting codemeta or an extension of it
      • crosswalking between CITATION.cff and CodeMeta and Zenodo metadata will require support and maintenance and probably too much work
      • we will have a deeper look to CITATION.cff to see what use-cases it can cover than are not covered by CodeMeta but will probably not support it at the moment.

      # Current metadata issues in the OSSR

To check: is schema.org versioned ?
