Description
This mini-course will give the mathematical background one needs to follow the other, more advanced, courses of the first week. It is meant to be very accessible, in particular to graduate students. I will gently introduce determinantal point processes (DPP), insisting on the models that you will encounter in the other courses (matrix models, orthogonal polynomial ensembles, Gaussian analytic functions etc.) During the course, you will have a first glance of how a DPP looks like, in which context do DPP arise, what properties we expect from them and what are the basic techniques to study their mathematical properties.
