Description

FAIR, the "Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research" is a particle accelerator complex which will be set up in Darmstadt, Germany, as a joint effort of 16 countries. FAIR will give more than 3000 scientists from Europe and from across the world the possibility to conduct cutting-edge research in four scientific domains: (1) APPA - atomic and plasma physics, applied sciences in the bio, medical, and material sciences, (2) CBM - physics of hadrons and quarks in compressed nuclear matter, (3) NuSTAR - structure of nuclei and nuclear astrophysics, and (4) PANDA - hadron structure and spectroscopy.
