The historical evolution of the concept of spissitude will be briefly put forth followed by a discussion of the recent manifestations of this idea in particle physics. The latter discussion will be in terms of explicit model realizations and the empirical viability of these models and their experimental tests at the Large Hadron Collider will be discussed.
